The Parent Child Center (PCC) is the home of Shoreline's youngest learners. The PCC is a licensed childcare facility and early-learning lab located on the campus of Shoreline Community College. We participate in Washington State's Early Achievers program and serve Shoreline Community College students, employees, and community members.

The Early Childhood Program Specialist 4 (ECPS3) is responsible for the daily management of Parent-Child Center operations under the leadership of the Parent Child Center Director. Duties include planning, organizing, executing, and evaluating Center activities as well as ensuring all childcare activities conform with regulations and Washington State Day Care Licensing provisions.

Primary job responsibilities include:


  • Supervise part-time staff as well as manage/coordinate student interns/volunteers performing childcare functions.
  • Develop/deliver staff orientation and training relative to operating policies and Center activities.
  • Manage enrollment, waiting lists, and withdrawals including the administration of tuition, fees, billing, and payments.
  • Supervise classroom curriculum planning for GOLD assessment compliance.
  • Regularly confer with parents and staff to discuss child development and address any parent concerns.
  • Coordinate regularly reoccurring family engagement activities in compliance with Center and College policies.
  • Track and reconcile program budgets, project costs, and provide funding updates as assigned.

Ensure the ongoing going preparation and maintenance of program records and reports.

 

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:


  • Forty-Five college credit hours in Early Childhood Education or related field, AND
  • Four (4) years of supervisory and/or administrative experience working in a group setting with children of multiple ages, OR equivalent education/experience.

Legal Qualifications:
  • First Aid/CPR certification*
  • TB Test/HIV/Bloodborne Pathogen*
  • Portable Background Check*

  • Current certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

Knowledge Of:
  • Microsoft Office applications such as SharePoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word programs
  • State childcare licensure requirements, DSHS, RCWs, Title 388 WAC, County Health Dept Policies
  • Early Achiever program guidelines/requirements and best practices in Early Childhood Education.

Skill In:
  • Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and responsiveness
  • Time management, organization, and ability to meet competing deadlines/priorities
  • Entering and/or retrieving data accurately in computerized record keeping systems
  • Handling difficult and sensitive situations, using independent judgment within legal guidelines
  • Writing/editing/proofreading clear and concise materials resulting in effective oral and written communication with individuals inside and/or outside of the College
  • Working cooperatively with a diverse group of students, staff, and the public in a friendly, courteous, and helpful manner.

 

Conditions of Employment

Terms Of Employment/Salary:
This position is allocated to pay range 49 ($52,592 - $70,749 yearly) under the Washington State Office of Financial Management higher education salary schedule. Salary placement for new employees is determined by the College. This position works 40 hours per week, with a schedule dependent upon department needs. Hiring of this position is contingent on available funding as determined by the College President.
