A Day in the Life
The Part-Time Human Resources Manager will be a key executive team member responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall mission and strategic direction of Habitat for Humanity of Long Island, New York. This individual should embody the principles of the nonprofit sector, ensuring that our mission-driven team thrives in an environment that values inclusivity, diversity, growth, and sustainability. This position reports to the CEO of Habitat of Humanity-Long Island.
Starting Pay: $59,000 annually (24 hours per week)
All About You
The Must Haves:
· 5+ years of human resource management experience required, with a preference of experience within the non-profit sector.
· Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree or HR certification a plus
· A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel as needed are essential.
· Proficient with HR Software.
Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership:
· Establish and implement HR strategies that effectively communicate and support the organization’s vision and mission.
· Develop and monitor HR plans and strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization.
HR Compliance & Management:
· Ensure compliance with non-profit-specific HR regulations and standards.
· Act as a liaison between the organization and external legal and professional resources to ensure that all employment policies follow current laws and regulations.
Recruitment & Talent Management:
· Monitor and ensure the organization’s staffing practices align with non-profit sector norms and best practices.
· Establish and lead the standard recruiting and hiring practices, and procedures necessary to recruit and hire a superior workforce.
Training, Development & Performance Management:
· Develop comprehensive training programs tailored to non-profit professionals, ensuring alignment with the organization's objectives.
· Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.
Compensation, Benefits & Workplace Culture:
· Develop progressive and proactive compensation and benefits programs to provide motivation, incentives, and rewards for effective performance.
· Cultivate a positive, transparent, and collaborative work environment, ensuring the integration of non-profit values in everyday operations.
Employee Relations & Engagement:
· Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines on employee relations.
· Lead initiatives to gauge employee satisfaction and to recognize employee dedication and performance.
Administrative & Reporting:
· Provide detailed monthly HR metrics and reports to the executive management team.
· Oversee budgeting for the human resources department, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
