Job Description
Overview:
- Part-time (0.6 FTE), Fixed Term position until 30 September 2027
- Salary Academic Level A ($93,413 -$100,269 p.a. pro rata) or Level B ($105,548 -$125,341 p.a. pro rata) + 17% Superannuation
- Based at the Melbourne CBD campus but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University
About the Roles
The Associate Lecturer (Level A) will teach in their expertise area, handling both academic and administrative tasks for courses. Responsibilities include delivering lectures and tutorials, student assessment, and course management according to University standards. They must also conduct research aligned with the University's strategy and gradually develop independent teaching and research skills under guidance.
The Lecturer (Level B) will support teaching and research in their expertise areas across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, while also enhancing their scholarly and professional skills. The Lecturer is also expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. Collaboration with academic peers and keeping stakeholders informed on developments in their specialty is essential. The Lecturer may be responsible for course coordination.
To be successful for the Level A appointment, you will have (but not limited to):
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and teach programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including online delivery, and the ability to produce high-quality curriculum or program materials, particularly in the areas of policy, legal studies, criminology, and criminal justice studies.
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students, especially on issues related to effective learning.
- Demonstrated energy and capacity to engage in research and publication.
- Ability to generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.
In addition to the above, to be successful for the Level B appointment you have (but not limited to):
- Ability to undertake course coordination role.
- Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates.
- Ability to build effective networks with colleagues and generate alternative funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with higher degree by research candidates, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications
Mandatory for Level A Appointment: Qualification in the relevant discipline area.
Preferred: Commenced or enrolled to commence PhD. Completion of the Essentials in Tertiary Teaching Practice program or equivalent (if the appointed candidate does not meet this requirement at the time of appointment, they will be supported to complete this as a requirement to fulfil their probation).
Mandatory for Level B Appointment: PhD in a related field or approved AQF equivalency with relevant industry experience.
