Job Description

The School of Business is seeking to fill two positions, beginning August 2024. Both positions will primarily support the MBA in Business Analytics, but candidates will teach undergraduate courses in business as needed. To be eligible for a 3-year renewable appointment at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, candidates must have a terminal degree in a business discipline. The second position available is a visiting position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Instructor, for a 2-year (with possible renewal) appointment. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in marketing analytics and/or SQL proficiency that can be applied to business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The functions below are detailed in the faculty handbook in Volume IV of the Institutional Policy Manual.
- Faculty will teach 24-27 credit hours in the academic year or as otherwise specified by the faculty member’s appointment notice; student course evaluations are to be completed in each course. Faculty are expected to employ sound pedagogical practices and to use technology as appropriate, including the University’s learning management system. Faculty shall assist with course revisions and curriculum development as needed.
- Achieve appropriate student-learning outcomes in all courses taught.
- Participate in service to the University, the community and to their profession. Attend convocations, commencement exercises and community meetings.
- Participate in ongoing professional development.
- Assist, advise and mentor students enrolled in the University if required by the Program.
- Fulfill the essential duties and responsibilities of a faculty member as described in Volume IV of the Gannon University Institutional Policy Manual which contains the approved policies and procedures of the University concerning the terms and conditions of faculty employment at the University.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS
Internal: Work collaboratively and strategically with colleagues (administrators, faculty and staff) and students.
External: Work collaboratively and strategically with local and regional partners. Support efforts towards recruitment and marketing. Faculty interact with parents/family and students. Interactions with potential supporters of scholarship.
Required Qualifications
Education: A doctoral degree from an accredited institution in business administration, a business discipline, business computer information systems, or business/data analytics is required. Those with a doctoral degree in marketing with recent analytics experience should apply.
This position requires proficiency with SQL for business and analytic techniques applied to business disciplines. Strong knowledge and use of advanced Excel, statistics and predictive analytics is expected. Other technological capabilities include Tableau, PowerBI, and Python. Candidates expecting to complete their dissertation by August 2024 will be considered. Previous academic experience is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications: Relevant certifications in business analytics are preferred but not required.
