Summary:

The Department of Data Science at Fei Tian College – Middletown invites applications for an adjunct faculty position to teach Calculus I and II for the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters.
The candidate is expected to plan, organize, and teach in a manner that encourages development in harmony with the college’s mission, and values. He or she also promotes and directs successful student learning in keeping with the learning-centered values and goals of the college.

Major responsibilities include:
Working with the Department curriculum committee to design and develop the Lecture and math Lab syllabi of the courses;
Providing academic instruction to students;
Observing and evaluating student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations; providing feedback in a timely manner to student inquiries in class, online, or during established consultation office hours;
Maintaining current, accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student academic progress, course curriculum, and student learning outcomes; preparing and submitting course assessment data and reports on student learning in a timely manner; and
Evaluating and selecting instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, software, and tools
in collaboration, as appropriate, with Office of Academic Affairs.
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Skills):
Minimum Master's degree, doctorate preferred, in mathematics, statistics or a closely-related field
Teaching experience on similar courses at the college level preferred
Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Skilled in classroom management, able to create positive and caring classroom community
Able to prepare class activities to supplement the material and engage students
Able to motivate students from a broad spectrum of backgrounds
Willingness to extend self to help students succeed
Able to appreciate and understand the multi-culture environment of the campus community
Able to be collaborative, flexible and helpful to others
Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
Open to feedback and continuous growth
Physical Requirements

Regularly required to sit, stand, bend forward, bend knees, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held text-books, learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
