Responsibilities

The job provides professional support and solves straightforward problems in the implementation and administration of admissions strategies, policies, and procedures. Conducts interviews and applicant evaluations. Coordinates the admissions of students independently or with guidance from others.

1) Recruits and/or evaluates applicants for admission by interviewing, reading applications and summarizing evaluations. Completes these tasks independently or with some guidance and instruction from others., 2) Travels and recruits in an assigned geography, assisting with planning and delivering public presentations, special events, and other recruitment activities., 3) Maintains relationships with all individuals involved in the recruitment process, including routinely counseling students and parents regarding the admission process., 4) Participates in special projects such as developing marketing materials, monitoring budgets and recruiting underrepresented groups with moderate/high levels of authority., 5) Performs other related work as needed.

Unit-Specific Responsibilities

1) The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Initiatives is an integral part of the Full-Time MBA Programs Admissions team.

2) This role is uniquely oriented to support both University of Chicago undergraduates as well as MBA students attending Chicago Booth, and works on initiatives that aim to connect the two student bodies.

3) The Assistant Director will be responsible for supporting the planning, operations, and execution of the Chicago Booth Scholars Program, Dougan Scholars Certificate Program, Civic Scholars Program.

4) In conjunction with the Director of Undergraduate Initiatives and the Associate Director of Undergraduate Initiatives, the Assistant Director will work on the full life cycle of undergraduate programs offered by Chicago Booth and execute on short- and long-term strategic initiatives that maximize the return on program objectives.

5) Additionally, this individual will fully participate in all aspects of the MBA recruitment, selection, and yield process, ultimately leveraging those experiences to better inform our approach.

6) Deliver an undergraduate recruitment strategy to generate interest among various undergraduate populations, and work closely with the Admissions Marketing team on a cohesive marketing strategy. This includes outreach to national and international undergraduate populations, as well as identification of opportunistic populations previously unreached.

7) Oversee an undergraduate student advisory unit for the Admissions office and manage its student advisory team, and will be responsible for creating new initiatives in conjunction with this advisory team to develop undergraduate students as leaders in their networks.

8) Fully participate in the Undergraduate and MBA recruitment and selection process, including implementation of effective evaluation processes, designing presentations and promotional materials, traveling, and executing recruitment efforts undertaken by the Office of Admissions.

9) Conduct Undergraduate recruitment, evaluation and yield activities. Duties include: being “on call” to answer phone, email and in-person inquiries, conducting presentations, travel and associated planning, reading and evaluating applications across all programs (undergraduate and MBA), conducting interviews as needed, and mentoring the programs’ student leaders.

10) Work with the broader Admissions team to develop an undergraduate-focused recruitment strategy for travel, with an emphasis on undergraduate campuses, which establishes the Chicago Booth Scholars Program as an integral part of the Chicago Booth Full-Time recruitment strategy.

11) Develop the recruitment strategy for the Dougan Scholars Certificate Program; work closely with the associate director on a recruitment strategy for the Civic Scholars Program; and partner with Summer Session on the Summer Business Scholars Program.

12) Develop a strong marketing and outreach strategy and work with the Admissions Marketing team to execute across social media and web platforms, and via email in order to increase engagement with Undergraduate audience and segments.

13) Assist with the implementation of a comprehensive business curriculum for all undergraduate programs, including research of Booth courses, companies to engage/develop, alumni and faculty speakers, skills workshops, communication materials, etc.

14) Liaise with Chicago Booth and University of Chicago offices, as well as other universities and institutions to support recruitment and programming efforts.

15) Support students with course registration inquiries and work closely with Booth’s Registrar and the University Registrar to track registration and performance.

16) Serve as a point of contact for enrolled students in the Dougan Scholars Certificate Program, and Summer Business Scholars Program, and serve as an academic and program advisor to all students.

17) Optimize undergraduate curriculum structure in conjunction with Chicago Booth course offerings and track academic progress for Dougan Scholars.

18) Oversee all student management processes (including transcript and all on-boarding processes) in partnership with the Associate Director of Undergraduate Initiatives for students enrolling in the Chicago Booth Scholars Program, Dougan Scholars Certificate Program, and Civic Scholars Program.

19) In conjunction with the Undergraduate Initiatives team, collaborate with the University’s Summer Session office on marketing and recruitment efforts for the Summer Business Scholars Program.

20) Develop and maintain analytics to track success of the programs for quarterly and annual admission reports.

21) Manage mentorship matching processes of mentors to newly admitted students across both undergraduate and MBA candidate populations.

22) Effectively track program expenses.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

 

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Education

1) Master’s degree.

Experience

1) A minimum of three years of experience working with undergraduate business students.

2) A minimum of three years of career advising or admissions-related experience.

3) Management experience.

4) Experience giving presentations to groups.
