Duties
Serve as the campus' senior admissions officer. Provides leadership, vision, direction, expert guidance, and accountability for the programs, services and activities in the areas of student admissions. Oversee development of, disseminate, maintain, monitor progress towards, and regularly update an admissions plan. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty/staff in all UH Hilo Divisions to maximize campus-wide involvement in and support of student recruitment initiatives and assessment. Interact and communicate regularly with senior executives, academic administrators, faculty and staff regarding the development, application, and interpretation of admissions university policies and procedures. Work and consult with Faculty Congress, UH Hilo Student Association and other shared governance entities & constituencies in developing admissions and enrollment-related policies/procedures. Serve on other UH Hilo & UH System-wide committees that help to advance UH Hilo's admissions goals, as well as coordinate the campus' efforts with System initiatives & priorities. Provide leadership, direction and oversight for a coordinated and seamless process of transfer into UH Hilo from the other nine (9) UH System campuses such that barriers to timely pathway to academic goal are minimized. Develop, implement, monitor and revise a comprehensive plan for international student recruitment which meets institutional learning outcomes. Consults with relevant academic and student affairs colleagues in regard to the development and implementation of international student recruitment efforts. Provide direct supervision, oversight, management and accountability for the staff, functions and budget of the Admissions Office. Ensure the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation and improvement of a comprehensive portfolio of services, programs and functions designed to improve the recruitment of a diverse student population. Oversee and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory policies which govern admissions functions. Align campus practices with UH System Board of Regents policies, executive policies and administrative procedures; proactively elevate concerns when policy irregularities or procedural anomalies occur which may create a conflict with legislation, etc. Recruit, select, supervise, train, develop, evaluate and motivate a diverse team of professional and paraprofessional staff so as to achieve mission, priorities, goals and objectives. Manage assigned operating budgets in compliance with all applicable University policies, state laws and federal regulations; identify alternative revenue streams to assist with realization of unit mission and goals. Lead efforts by admissions to maintain and analyze historical enrollment trends, use data to drive decisions, and identify optimal strategies to reach enrollment targets. Institute policies, practices and procedures for recruitment and admissions policies that maximize success in achieving strategic enrollment-related efforts. Identify areas/needs for gathering, analyzing & tracking student data to inform effective decision-making & planning; develop processes to ensure relevant data is available for policy setting, budget planning, & program implementation. Lead and coordinate policy development/revision efforts related to admissions of student classifications such as international, transfer, veterans, older/adult, & early admission students. Develop a marketing plan that clearly identifies a UH Hilo niche for prospective students & institutes coordinated messaging approaches, utilizing a range of relevant social media, to maximize the pipeline of prospective students, applicants, & matriculants. Develop, execute, evaluate and continually improve communications/recruitment/outreach plan that is inclusive of pre-college populations through graduation. Evaluate and recommend use of information technologies to enhance and support all aspects of recruitment and admissions management processes. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in a field relevant to assigned job duties from an accredited institution and 5 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for providing post-secondary recruitment, higher education admissions or student enrollment, including two years of supervisory experience; or equivalent education/training or experience. Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the areas of post-secondary recruitment, higher education admissions, or student enrollment as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with post-secondary recruitment, higher education admissions, or student enrollment. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software. For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations. Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated. Demonstrated understanding of and ability to apply model practices and current scholarship in the area of post-secondary recruitment, higher education admissions, or student enrollment. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with faculty, staff, students, external constituencies, legislatures, community members, parents, etc. Demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of constituencies within and outside the University in the achievement of shared goals. Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver public presentations and prepare reports/infographics for a variety of target audiences. Demonstrated capacity to analyze and interpret data, and proven familiarity/facility with the technology resources needed to support this endeavor. Experience with student information systems in higher education. Ability to interpret and apply legal and policy provisions to situations consistently. Ability to work outside normally scheduled business hours including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required. Ability to work effectively with multicultural populations. Valid driver's license and ability to travel for recruitment and student admissions purposes.

Desirable Qualifications
An earned master's degree in a field relevant to assigned job duties from an accredited institution. Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in post-secondary recruitment, higher education admissions, and/or student enrollment, or transferable/comparable professional experience. Experience working with non-traditional students and minority populations, as well as with international students. Skilled in team-building and developing collaborative partnerships. Demonstrated ability to be creative, flexible and take initiative.

Pay Range
PBB, minimum $4481/month
