Postdoctoral research fellow positions are open in the Gastrointestinal (GI) Cancer program at the Department of Surgery and Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Miami. The GI Cancer research group is funded by multiple NIH grants. The research lab is actively engaged in advanced studies of functional genomics and molecular basis of tumorigenesis in gastric and esophageal cancers. The lab employs in vitro models, genetically engineered mouse models, 3D organoid culture techniques, and various molecular and biochemical techniques. The laboratory is fully equipped with access to outstanding core facilities at the University of Miami School of Medicine and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.

 

Requirements:

This position requires a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field with a minimum of two years post doctoral research experience. To be considered, the applicant must have an experience in stem cells, redox biology or cancer immunology with evidence of publications. Strong experience with basic molecular biology technology, sterile cell culture, and Western blotting is required. In addition, the applicant must have strong writing and communication skills, documented by peer-reviewed publications and presentations in national and international meetings are required. We are looking for scientist with creativity, lateral-thinking and excellent communication skills.  The candidate should have the ability to develop new directions in the assigned research projects. The successful candidate will join a large state-of-the-art vibrant lab that includes several post-doctoral fellows, research assistants, and students.

Salaries are highly competitive and commensurate with experience. Applicants with a strong experience may be considered for a higher-level position.
