This is a limited term position ending July 31, 2021. This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay. The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy is the United States' first professional graduate school of international affairs. Since 1933 Fletcher's multi-disciplinary education in international relations, law, and business, has prepared the world's leaders to become innovative problem-solvers in government, private sector, and non-governmental organizations. The Fletcher School's Center for International Environment and Resource Policy (CIERP) combines rigorous research, multi-disciplinary graduate education, and executive training to equip current and future policy entrepreneurs with both the knowledge to craft evidence-based policy in a global context and the skills to implement it. Research topics of focus for CIERP include: energy, climate, and innovation; agriculture, forests, and biodiversity; sustainable development, diplomacy, and governance; and sustainable development economics. This individual works in collaboration with the principle and co-investigator as well as postdoctoral scholars in the host research group. S/he works independently to participate in or lead a portion of a research project or projects. The Research Associate contributes ideas and suggestions to the research effort, operates independently on data gathering and analysis, conducting interviews, and writes and publishes papers in collaboration with the principle and co-investigator and postdoctoral scholars. This individual may have other responsibilities in the research group such as presenting findings at meetings, compiling databases, translating policy documents, completing progress reports, presenting on research, editing and preparing papers for publication, assisting team members with related research tasks, etc.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements: - 1 year experience in a research position.
- MA or equivalent degree.
Preferred Qualifications: - Understanding of Russian/Chinese foreign policy and/or defense policy.
- Knowledge of the Chinese or Russian language and ability to conduct interviews in one of these languages.
- Strong writing skills (in English).
- Prior research experience including data gathering and analysis.
- Ability to meet deliverables in the right format and on time.
