Childhood Health Behaviors and Cognition Postdoctoral Researcher Position
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the Body Composition and Nutritional Neuroscience (BCNN) Laboratory directed by Dr. Naiman Khan at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (https://bcnnlab.kch.illinois.edu/). Applicants are invited to apply for a position to work on research projects focusing on obesity and health behaviors (i.e., diet and physical activity) and their relationship with childhood cognitive health.

The position involves working on multiple projects within an active laboratory. The candidate should be able to work as an integral part of an interdisciplinary research team, possess strong communication skills, and be highly motivated to succeed. Primary responsibilities will include project management including data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings. On-going projects in the lab include a longitudinal study examining the effects of early life nutrition and growth trajectory on cognitive control and neuroelectric (i.e., event-related potentials) function in preschool-aged children as well as experimental trials utilizing nutrition and exercise approaches to enhance cognitive health across the lifespan. Research in the laboratory is funded by government, private corporations, non-profit food and commodity boards.
The ideal candidate will have PhD training in Nutrition, Kinesiology, Psychology, Neuroscience or related area with experience in human experimentation. PhD students in the final year of their thesis work are eligible to apply. Applicants should be highly motivated and creative with the ability to learn quickly and to function both independently and within a team; have excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; and have established research productivity.
